  • New internal functionality to resume playback position from another part on R_video (R_video update required).

Improvements

  • 8K models: Integrated the S928X SDK update to improve stability in some cases.

  • Improved support for RF remote control in Android apps. The keys A / B / C / D / INFO / AUDIO / SUB / SETUP should now work in Android apps that support these keys.

  • Minor label improvements in the "Setup > Video" menu.

  • Updated some UI translations.

Fixes

  • 8K models: Playback of DV5 or DV8 video files could cause a reboot in some cases.

  • 8K models: Playback of AV1 video files could cause a reboot in some cases (after pause and screensaver).

  • PlayerMini: When using SPDIF output and playing DD+ audio, sound could be absent on SPDIF depending on the EDID of the connected HDMI TV. Now, DD+ can be converted and output as DD (HD audio should be disabled in settings).

  • Output of DD+ Atmos in bitstream mode from some Android apps did not work in some rare cases.

  • Specific video files with CUVA HDR could have playback issues.

  • Specific video files created using the ATEME library could be played with incorrect HDR parameters.

  • Aspect ratio could be wrong when playing DVD-Video in some cases.

  • Player could hang when playing specific MP4 files over HTTP in some cases.

  • When playing IPTV streams, output of DD/DTS audio to SPDIF could fail in some cases (when HDMI EDID did not support DD/DTS).

  • Online subtitles during playback did not work properly in some cases.

  • When connecting multiple storage devices with the same name, it could cause issues in some cases.

  • Auto start of an item from favorites did not work when the item was corresponding to a folder and could cause some issues in some cases.

  • SMB browser could not connect to the SMB server in some cases.

  • The function to hide empty Android folders in the built-in memory folder worked incorrectly in some cases.

  • UI animation on the on-screen keyboard worked incorrectly in some cases.

  • Mouse clicks stopped working in Android apps in some cases after certain user actions.

  • Deleting an Android app could incorrectly request confirmation twice.

  • Numerous minor fixes and internal changes especially to improve loading of movie covers (requires R_video update).

  • A/V sync correction setting during playback (in POPUP Menu and by "A" button). 

  • New Setup > Audio setting for converting HD audio to SD audio (useful for SPDIF output or AVRs without HD audio support).

  • Support for GIF image format.

Improvements

  • Screensaver by default is now configured to "Clock" screensaver app and 10 minutes timeout. Screensaver timeout can be now chosen directly in Setup > General menu.

News

  • New version of R_video v1.6.29.

  • Added support for R_volution RF + IR Remote Control.

  • Introduced a new "Setup > Video > Picture Quality" menu with the following settings: Sharpen Picture (default: OFF), AI PQ/SR (default: OFF), improved DV Black Levels (default: OFF). The default values for these new settings result in a different video processing behavior compared to previous firmware versions. This new behavior generally provides better picture quality in most cases. However, depending on personal preferences and connected equipment, some users may wish to adjust these settings to restore the previous behavior. (Note: AI PQ/SR settings are available for 8K models only.)

  • Added full support of STD DV with CMv4.0

  • Added DVD Menus Support.

  • Added "Setup > Misc > Display > Show additional icons" setting. This option is disabled by default. When enabled, the front panel display shows a few status icons.

  • Added setting "Setup / Audio / Sample rate switch delay" (8K models only). It fixes the problem that beginning of audio files could be not heard because of HDMI audio sample rate switching takes some time (when native audio sample rate is used and audio file sample rates is different from 48 kHz). The default value is 800 ms, which seems to be enough for most AVR and TV models. Depending on the used AVR / TV model, it may be needed to choose a different value.

Improvements

  • Updated French UI translation.

  • The "Use VS10 for SDR/HDR" video setting is now OFF by default (this change will take effect after a settings reset).

  • Disabling Hi-Fi mode when the files played are too large.

  • Added support of Unicode UTF-16 LE coding for the subtitles.

  • Non-relevant settings in "Setup / Audio" menu are now grayed out for conveniency (same as in "Setup / Video" menu).

Fixes

  • Fixed HDR10+ playback issues when using an HDR10+ TV and a video file that supports both HDR10+ and DV. Previously, HDR was incorrectly played instead of HDR10+ in this scenario.

  • Resolved playback issues with certain Blu-ray images (BD ISO).

  • Fixed the incorrect aspect ratio that could occur during playback of some AV1 video files.

  • Fixed issues where auto resolution switching did not work properly, particularly when playing 1080i video content.

  • Fixed an issue where the wrong framerate was reported in the INFO panel for some files.

  • Fixed stuttering issues with MPEG2 video files, such as those in DVD-Video format.
